Highlight reels naturally don't tell the whole story, but this clip shows who good Song has become in breaking up opposition attacks and counters, how well he uses his good footwork and strength to get out of tight and potentially difficult situations, and that his passing and vision is becoming very good, as both the assists and especially those through balls into the channels on the wings prove. If he had a hammer of a shot from outside the box, he'd be very close to a dream defensive midfielder.
I love watching Song, seeing De Jong in the community shield today made me realise how good he is. Love how well he uses his strength to win the ball cleanly and turn on it so that he not only stops the opposition, but he gets the arsenal attack moving. Another example of Wenger taking a player from another position (I believe he was a scrawny CM like Anderson when he came from Bastia) and creating a hybrid of the qualities he wants, powerful but with excellent footwork and passing.
